Victor and Sharie placed their bet for my hosting services at the famous w@w auction — a yearly activity conducted in support of w@w’s Christmas celebration.  Guess what? Sharie won!!! And I am always more than happy to serve as host for the winners of the w@w auction.

The couple came all the way from the Japan where they worked for quite sometime already. They met there, had their beautiful pre-nup photos taken there and flew all they way from Japan to be blessed at Calaruega as husband and wife.

One interesting bit: indeed, it’s a small world after all!  Sharie and I both know Bryan Macabales. Sharie’s from Pisay and so is Brymac. Brymac was  Sharie’s CAT instructor. Brymac is my sinta. (ba’t may kilig factor?!)

Sharie has a sweet voice – a nice singing voice and it was proven by her special rendition of “At the Beginning” at the end of the program.  :-) (at the beginning at the end!? un-huh LOL) Totally Mesmerized accompanied Sharie beautifully.

It was my first time to work with Daniel Lei and I had this impression that he and his wife and team were suplados. Hindi naman pala… I think they were just focused on their tasks. Here is the result of  their focus and dedication to the project  – Sharie & Victor –  Smack into Love.

It was my first time to host an event at Summit Ridge Hotel.  Personnel were very courteous and helpful from the account manager to the waiters, maintenance people and security guards. i started 2010 with a bang! this photo tells just a bit of of how fun fun fun and touching were the moments at Pong and Mitch’s wedding party at The Glass Garden in Pasig.

pong and mitch were yosimates way back in college and after more than a decade of being together, they finally said yes, made a solemn vow to be yosimates and husband and wife together, for as long as they both shall live.

true love —- sacrifice. going the extra mile — even thousands of  miles that is. leaving your job to be with the one you love. enduring the looooong distance. relying on skype.  being of service to your soon-to-be-mother-in-law ng sariling kusa. keeping the faith. being there when it counts the most. having the “gratitude attitude”.

at the Department, they usually say that it’s more challenging for lady Foreign Service Officers (FSOs) to have a partner in life in this kind of career.

uhmmm, some thoughts about a career in the Foreign Service …

may be ala-showbiz for the endless receptions and cocktails and for being a “display profession”  at that (i.e. must really be good  inside-out,  presentable — looks, speech, demeanor — worthy of representing the Filipino people and the Philippines at all times and cost!).

can also be  mala-007 for intel gathering in these endless social functions, meetings and international conferences.

maybe no one would contest that it  can also be described as ala-missionaries of charity, as people in the Foreign Service serve to promote the Philippine national interest and care for the Filipinos around the world through the various Philippine foreign posts.

so in this kind of job, or more of vocation as some would call it,                   it REALLY such a blessing to have someone with you out there in the mission fields, to have someone who will be kaagapay sa paglalakbay – in this very arduous yet a very fulfilling journey of  a life in the foreign service.

For  the photo: thank God for ex-FSO cadet Edna Barleta for being there and taking these shots! she looks gorgeous as ever, after leaving the DFA (is that the reason why she blooms!? kidding!) to take care of their family business. it’s always good to see familiar faces in receptions — they provide the “kind eye” which i usually need to feel comfortable with the crowd. (emcees need kind eyes too — yes we do! makes things easier and more enjoyable!).  it was a delight to see Amba JoDel too, though at first he wasn’t able to recognize me. “Sir, Dulce, FSI po!” that did it!

to add to having a take-home photo as a souvenir, it’s great that one can see all the guests’ photos in a gallery, over and over again — free for downloading too!!!

the first time i experienced a photo booth was with bai capture at raymond and SG’s at bellevue, 23 dec 08.

but can’t seem to find their file in the gallery…hmm…

theirs had no border and that makes the pictures a bit bigger…

still, kodakan na walang patid, i believe, gives much joy to the guests!
